Linda Ayuso Obituary

Linda Lucille Alverson Gillmore Ayuso passed into the loving arms of Our Lord on February 9, 2024. She led a beautiful, eventful, graceful and long life. Born at the start of the Great Depression, she lived through WWII, attended college, married her husband John H. Gillmore and raised 7 children born in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Widowed at a young age, she found inner strength to launch her children to successful lives. She married Anthony Ayuso in the 1970’s and welcomed two stepchildren to her family.

Linda started her banking career in the early 1980’s at El Dorado Bank which then became California Bank & Trust. She was the “face of the bank” at her desk, welcoming customers for so many years. Her children would run into people from the area who knew Linda from the bank. Linda worked at the bank until 2020 when she was 90 years old.

Her devotion to La Purisima Catholic Church was long-lived, from the time her family moved to Orange in 1962. She volunteered at the parish school where she was affectionately known by students as the “Ice Cream Lady” for nearly 20 years.

She has been described as a “professional mom” and was known for her “magic baby hands” that held every child in her family. Linda was a diehard Angels baseball fan even before the team reached MLB status. She attended many games each season and tried to be at the season opener each year.

Linda had a beautiful singing voice and was part of the La Purisima Church choir for many years. She was a member of the Happy Troubadours singing group that performed at local nursing homes and community events. She used her sewing talents to create costumes for their various shows such as the Western show, Christmas show, and Roaring 20’ show. She loved to see her musical family members perform at the family piano or traveling to see them in shows across the country.

She is predeceased by her two husbands and one son, Timothy Gillmore. She is survived by 6 children, Pat Gillmore, Diane Williams (Stu), Mike Gillmore, Laurie Wilding (Kurt), Kathi Gillmore and Karen Sisson (Mark), and two stepchildren, Carole Ayuso (Chet) & Brian Ayuso (Janet). With all these children she was grandmother to many, Tim Allessi, Andy Drapkowski, Becca Tran, Ryan Gillmore, Greg Allessi, Amy Scarpace, Matt Drapkowski, Kent Wilding, Colin Wilding, Kate Schad, Emily Sisson and Claire Sisson. She also loved and embraced her great grandchildren Ezmond, Tahlia, Aries & Magnus Allessi, Cleo & Hunter Tran, Carson & Avery Scarpace and Austin & Aspen Drapkowski. Linda was the eldest of four children and is survived by her brother James Alverson and two sisters, Lois Rabalais and Beverly Schippers.

She was a beautiful spirit and anyone who met her or came to her home was welcomed with open arms. Kind, loving and strong are the consistent themes of a life well lived.
