Obituary

In a world that often struggles to find true heroes, we were blessed to have one living among us. Karla Isabel de los Reyes Almoradie, a beacon of courage, generosity, and love, passed away on August 10, 2023, in Van Nuys, California. Born on November 5, 1970, in Manila, Philippines, she illuminated the lives of all she encountered with her radiant spirit and unwavering strength.

Karla's roots ran deep, born to Carmen de los Reyes-Siyluy and the late Conrado Miralpes Almoradie, Jr. She was the cherished sister of Katerine Almoradie, Kristine Almoradie-Ramirez, Karina Savage, Karmina Perodeau, Mary Grace Ciaramello, Maricris Almoradie, Claris Dantes, Ferdinand Almoradie, Mark Siyluy and Michael Siyluy. Her bond with her siblings was a testament to the power of familial love and unity, a bond that transcended geographical boundaries and life's many challenges.

Her journey through education was a testament to her indomitable spirit. Despite developing Hydrocephalus at the young age of 15, which led to her becoming disabled, Karla never allowed her circumstances to define her potential. She attended Hawthorne High School in Hawthorne, California, and later, El Camino College in Torrance, California. Her journey was not merely about acquiring knowledge but about demonstrating to the world that barriers are merely stepping stones to greater heights.

Karla's life was not defined by her disability but by her strength and resilience. She was a woman who loved life and embraced it with open arms. She found joy in the simplest of things, from the rhythmic bounce of a basketball to the satisfying process of creating delicious Filipino meals. She adored her nephews and nieces, and every moment spent with them was a celebration of love and togetherness.

She was a woman of the world, who loved to travel and explore new cultures. Despite her physical challenges, she never let them deter her from experiencing the world's beauty. She was a protector, a guardian angel who watched over her loved ones with fierce determination and unwavering dedication.

Karla Isabel de los Reyes Almoradie was a woman who embodied the essence of courage, showing us all that life is not about the challenges we face, but how we rise above them. She was generous, always willing to share her love, her time, and her spirit with those around her. Above all, she was loving, her heart a vast ocean of warmth and affection that she freely gave to everyone she met.

As we remember Karla, let us not dwell on the sadness of her departure but celebrate the extraordinary life she lived. Let us remember her strength, her courage, her love, and her generosity. Let us remember her for the hero that she was, a woman who turned adversity into strength, who transformed challenges into opportunities, and who showed us all what it truly means to live life to the fullest.

Karla, you may have departed from this world, but your spirit, your love, and your courage will live on in our hearts forever. You were a beacon of hope in a world that often feels dark, a reminder that we can overcome anything if we face it with courage, love, and a generous spirit. Thank you for being our hero. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on, inspiring us all to live our lives with the same courage, love, and generosity that you showed us every day.
