Juan's early life in Orange, California, was marked by his passion for sports and his close-knit family ties. A graduate of Orange High School, he excelled on the football field, earning a scholarship to play at the college level. He found solace in the simple pleasures of life, such as starting his day with a bowl of cereal and a few glasses of milk. Yet, those closest to him knew of his softer side, a gentle giant who would do anything for the people he loved. His ability to balance these aspects of his personality made him a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Though he may have left us in body, the memories of his adventurous spirit, his courageous heart, and his spirited laughter will remain with us always. Juan Cortez Ruiz was a man who lived by his own rules, touched lives, and left this world far too soon, but never without having made it a better place for his presence.
