Here lies John, Eric Swan more lovingly referred to as just Swann or Swanny, went home to be with our Lord Jesus on November 22, 2023, in Fullerton California. John was born in southeast Los Angeles and raised by his beloved mother Joanne Grace Plumb. She instilled in him her character and hard-working ethic, as well as her love of music and our Lord Jesus. John was ever the creative person, always customizing things the way he wanted. John was a self taught artist who loved to draw eventually using a self built computer to further enhance his drawings.
After some time, John joined the Diaz family, a typical Mexican American family followed by a little brother Scott. Living and growing up in SouthGate, John attended and graduated from South Gate High School, where he made a lifelong friendship with Ken Younger, & the Younger family.
John developed a strong spirit to work at a young age and after graduating, he began living on his own to reach his dream goal of owning his own home. John was a fast learner and quickly ascended from one good job to the next until he landed at Terminal Island with the longshoremen’s union working at National Metal. Learning the electrical trades, working on in-service cranes and other types of heavy machinery, until they closed at which time John used his learned talents to get a lifetime job at a wastewater treatment plant The LA county sanitation districts where he learned, welding, pneumatics, electricity & computer programming, for 30+ years eventually retiring as an instrumentation technician after years of helping the districts systematically convert their antiquated systems into the modern age, John was a tremendous asset and a vital part of their team.
John lived most of his life in married relationships, in his 20’s he met his first wife, Rosie, and her son Luis, followed by later by 2 children Eddie and Monica.who blossomed in their love. Quite a few years later, John met the second wife, Genevieve, and her sons Juan and Mitchell, their love again resulted in another born son Emilio. Finally, John met and married the final love of his life, his beloved wife Taesoon and her three sons, Bruce, Brandon, and Brian. Tae Soon loved and cared for John as they grew into retirement and she was there caring for her husband as he took ill, until he took his last breath. John was literally surrounded by love and family members in the last days and moments.
Last but not least, John survived by two grandchildren Titus and Jackson, as well as a handful of nieces and nephews, and his sister Michelle who came to know later in life. John was the example of a tender hearted man, no one could be more loving and forgiving. He loved and appreciated the natural beauty of all God's creation spending camping trips with family in the mountains and beaches of SoCal all his life long.
John loved cars and was good at finding just the right wheels to make them look better John raised fish at times in his life in tanks and self built ponds. But nothing made him happier than inviting friends and family over for a swim in his meticulously cared for pool. A good BBQ, a couple of beers and a smoke was his most enjoyable activity. Except for when he was attending church with family and friends praising and worshiping Jesus as he was more than anything a Christian Man.
He will be truly missed. John's heart was a gift to this world and all those who loved and knew him. His forgiveness knew no bounds and he had an endless love. He was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend to many who will never forget John Eric Swann.
