Eloy Milton Romero, a man of gentle kindness and analytical mind, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife Paula and trusted dog Rusty on April 22, 2024, due to natural causes at his home in Hemet, California. Born on March 15, 1931, in Aguilar, Colorado, Eloy's journey through life was marked by dedication, love, and an admirable work ethic.
Eloy's early life in Colorado laid a strong foundation for his future. After graduating from high school, he chose to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. His service during the Korean Conflict was a testament to his bravery and patriotism. Upon his return, Eloy's heart was captured by Josephine "Jo" Vigil in Pueblo, Colorado. Their whirlwind romance led to a loving marriage, and together they embarked on a new chapter in San Francisco, California. For over 53 years, they shared life's joys and challenges until her passing in 2006.
Eloy's professional life was as a dedicated civil servant, where he excelled as a systems analyst and later in software design. His career spanned an impressive 40 years, after which he embraced a well-deserved retirement. In his later years Eloy met and married Paula Sue Laquey, together they enjoyed over 10 years of companionship, filled with mutual respect and affection.
Eloy's personal interests were a reflection of his character. He found joy in tinkering in his garage, working on his car, and staying abreast of the latest automotive trends through car magazines. His yard was a canvas for his creativity, where he spent countless hours cultivating beauty and order. Eloy's love for engaging his hands and mind was paralleled only by his love for the comfort of his home. While he occasionally attended local events, he was happiest in the familiar surroundings of his residence.
Eloy's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife, Paula Romero, and his five children: Donna Pearson, Don Romero, Julia Romero Walker, Robert Romero, and Richard Romero along with his wife Marcia. His nine grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy and his loving sister, Eleanor Johnson.
Those who knew Eloy will remember him for his kind heart and analytical approach to life. He was a man who valued simplicity and the quiet moments that life offers. Eloy's gentle nature and thoughtful demeanor left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As we bid farewell to Eloy Milton Romero, we celebrate a life well-lived, a family well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire. His was a life of service, commitment, and quiet contentment—a life that will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
